THE DAY OF THE DEAD
The Celts believed that on the night of October 31st, Samhain, the veil between the living world and the spirit world became incredibly thin. This bled into All Hallows' Eve to Halloween and eventually in the Catholic tradition the Day of the Dead when we celebrate our departed. Here in Sicily, they celebrate with Frutta Martorana, little brightly hand-painted marzipan fruits, leaving them out for their departed ancestors. A beautiful way to remember their dead loved ones. D
